Questions
Are there AI training jobs that accept South Africans?
Yes. 151 open roles accept people living in South Africa: 2 name South Africa among the countries they hire in, and 149 are open worldwide. Roles that do not say where they hire are left off this page, so every role here has stated it is open to you.
How do I get paid from South Africa?
Projects pay in US dollars through the platform running them. From South Africa the usual routes are PayPal, which withdraws to an FNB account, Payoneer, and Wise to a South African bank account. Check which methods a platform pays by before you apply, because some offer only one.
Do I pay tax on AI training income in South Africa?
South African residents are taxed on income from anywhere, so contractor pay from abroad goes on your SARS return. With no employer taking tax off, most people earning it register as provisional taxpayers and pay in two instalments a year. This is general information, not tax advice.
How much do AI training jobs in South Africa pay?
Of the 151 roles for people in South Africa open now, 144 publish an hourly rate. The median is $70 an hour, half of them pay between $50 and $95, and the highest pays $325. Every role shows its terms before you apply, and applying is free.
What fields are hiring in South Africa?
Most of these roles are in engineering, software and science & research. Each role names the degree, experience and languages it needs, and with a profile Tier1 checks them against yours.
Do I need a local company or visa?
Not for the roles on this page. They are remote, and you work with the platform running the project, usually as an independent contractor paid on its schedule. Each role states its terms before you apply, and tax on the income is handled where you live.
