We are looking for Mechanical Engineering Expert candidates for a project delivered through micro1.
What you'll do
- Evaluate and solve advanced mechanical engineering problems spanning design, structural/thermal analysis, and R&D.
- Review and assess AI-generated technical responses for technical correctness, accuracy, and engineering quality.
- Apply practical engineering judgment to real-world design and analysis scenarios and theoretical questions.
- Analyze and troubleshoot mechanical systems using industry-standard techniques such as FEA, statics/dynamics analysis, thermodynamics, and vibration analysis.
- Contribute domain expertise to inform model improvements and refine AI reasoning in mechanical engineering.
- Document feedback and provide clear written and verbal explanations to enhance AI learning and performance.
- Collaborate remotely with a distributed team of experts and project participants.
What you need
- No prior experience in AI is required, your domain knowledge is what matters.
Nice to have
- MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, or BS in Mechanical Engineering with 8+ years of relevant industry experience.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design, analysis, or R&D.
- Expert knowledge of statics/dynamics, thermodynamics, FEA, and vibration/structural analysis.
- Proven ability to analyze complex mechanical systems using finite element methods, hand calculations, and experimental validation.
- Familiarity with relevant standards bodies (ASME BPVC, ASME codes) and design-for-reliability practices.
- Professional English proficiency with exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with FEA/simulation software (ANSYS, Abaqus, Nastran), CAD platforms, or product R&D in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Strongly preferred — evidence of problem-authoring rigor, such as: service on an olympiad problem committee; a textbook problem-set or solutions-manual author credit; an item-writer role on an NCEES or academic qualifying-exam committee; service on an ASME BPVC or related codes/standards committee; a top placement or team-lead role in Formula SAE/Formula Student, ASME Student Design Competition/HPVC, NASA RASC-AL, or a DARPA challenge; a best-paper award at ASME IMECE, IDETC, or Turbo Expo, or a publication in JMPS; an ASME Melville or Blackall Medal; or an early-career fellowship/grant (NSF CAREER, DOE Early Career, ONR/AFOSR YIP, Sloan Fellowship) or ASME Fellow recognition.
