We are looking for Sonic Audit Specialist - Portuguese candidates for a project delivered through Mercor.
What you'll do
- Audit AI training data in Brazilian Portuguese.
- Listen to a recording of human or agent speech, read the transcription, and judge whether it accurately captures what the speaker said.
- Apply a fixed set of error codes, assign a pass or fail verdict, and write a short rationale explaining the decision for transcriptions.
- Review audio that has already been segmented at the word level by an automated system.
- Verify that the start and end timestamps match where the word actually begins and ends, and that the reference transcription matches the spoken form.
- Correct word boundary timestamps, split or merge segments, add missing segments, or remove segments that contain no word.
- Tag every applicable error code and explain in plain language why the task passed or failed.
- Call out critical errors first so the reason for a failure is obvious to the reader.
What you need
- Be a native or near-native speaker of Portuguese as spoken in Brazil.
- Have lived in a region where Brazilian Portuguese is dominant for five or more years if not born there.
- Possess strong English reading and writing skills.
- Be able to apply a written standard consistently.
- Be able to distinguish similar sounds, identify word boundaries in continuous speech, and tell genuine acoustic ambiguity apart from a clear annotator error.
Nice to have
- Have prior transcription, subtitling, localization, linguistic annotation, or QA experience.
- Have prior AI data annotation or model evaluation work experience.
- Have a phonetics or linguistics background.
- Have experience with audio editing or waveform tools.
